The executive branch of our government makes sure that laws are carried out. At the national level the president is head of the executive branch of government. He is assisted by the vice-president and his cabinet. The cabinet is a group of advisors to the president who help him carry out our nation's laws and make policy in different key areas such as defense, education, commerce, etc..

At the state level, this would include the governor of the state and the lieutenant governor. The governor of New York is George Pataki. He lives and works in Albany, the state capital of New York.

At the local level, Rochester has a mayor, William Johnson and Monroe County has a county executive, Jack Doyle, Pittsford has a mayor, Mayor Robert Corby. There is also a town supervisor, William Carpenter.
