SUBTRACTING HUNDREDTHS

Subtracting hundredths is very similar to subtracting whole numbers and tenths. One must be very careful to line up numbers by place value.

Here is a simple example:

	.50	Fifty hundredths minus
	.30	Thirty hundredths
	.20	Twenty hundredths

 

3.18	Three and eighteen hundredths minus	3 18 100
-.59	Fifty-nine hundredths	59 100
2.59	Two and fifty-nine hundredths	2 49 100
